Embarking on a Journey: Elite Koi's 2025 Japan Adventure Begins

As I sit here on the eve of our annual Koi buying trip, the excitement is almost too much to contain. Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21st, marks the start of yet another incredible journey for Elite Koi. This year feels particularly special, as I, Chris, won’t be traveling alone. Joining me are Michael, embarking on his very first trip to Japan, and three of our valued Elite Koi Club members—Craig, Kate, and Mick. Having them alongside us adds a new layer of camaraderie and anticipation.

Our journey begins with an early start, catching a 6:15 AM flight from the UK to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. After a 6-hour layover in Schiphol, we’ll board our long-haul flight at 2:25 PM, bound for Narita Airport in Tokyo. We’re scheduled to touch down in Japan at 11:45 AM Wednesday, local time, and I already know sleep will be hard to come by tonight as the excitement builds!

This year, we’ve decided to spend the first four days exploring Tokyo. During our stay, we’ll visit the prestigious All Japan Koi Show, a highlight for Koi enthusiasts worldwide. It’s a perfect way to immerse ourselves in the Koi culture before heading to Niigata for the heart of our trip—the buying expedition. I can’t wait to reconnect with the incredible breeders who have become trusted suppliers to Elite Koi, each visit strengthening our bond and commitment to sourcing the finest Koi for our customers.

The days ahead are sure to be filled with unforgettable experiences, from the vibrant energy of Tokyo to the serene beauty of Niigata’s Koi farms. I’ll be sharing every step of our journey, so stay tuned as we dive into this exciting chapter!
