Day 1 in Japan: Touchdown at Narita

After a long but incredibly comfortable flight, we landed at Narita Airport at 12:00 PM today. The upgrade to business class made all the difference—the extra legroom, delicious meals, and even a couple of hours of sleep set the tone for an exciting trip ahead.

Once through customs, we’ll be heading straight to the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, which will serve as our base during our time in Tokyo. The hotel is massive, and I can’t wait to explore everything it has to offer. I’ve heard great things about its facilities and proximity to Tokyo’s key attractions.

Our first day’s plans are shaping up nicely. One idea is to visit the graves of the 47 Ronin, a site steeped in history and Japanese cultural significance. Watching the Keanu Reeves movie "47 Ronin" during the flight reignited my interest in this story of honor and loyalty. Visiting the site will be a fitting way to dive into Japan’s rich history before we fully immerse ourselves in the world of Koi.

Of course, the real reason for this trip is never far from my mind: sourcing the best Koi Japan has to offer. Our primary focus this year is on acquiring around 60 stunning Goshiki Koi, which will be the centerpiece of an exclusive grow-out event for Elite VIP Club members. These Koi will showcase the quality and beauty Elite Koi is known for, and we’re thrilled to bring this opportunity to our community.

Another exciting development is the launch of the Japan Live page on our website. This new feature will allow Koi enthusiasts to purchase exceptional Koi as soon as we’ve secured them from the farms in Niigata. As we settle in and prepare for the days ahead, I can’t help but feel grateful for this journey. The blend of Japanese history, culture, and the thrill of discovering new Koi makes every moment of this trip worthwhile.
